STAR Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how STAR handles information when you use the app.
Summary
STAR does not require an account, does not show ads, does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not collect or transmit your personal information to the developer.
STAR does process and store certain information on your device so the app can function, and it sends data to coagulator servers that you choose to connect to.
What STAR Does
STAR lets you:
- Save and manage coagulator server connections.
- Connect to a coagulator as a client or as a provider.
- Send text to a coagulator to generate speech.
- Use on-device system voices when acting as a provider.
- Render audio files and save them locally.
- Create, import, export, and manage custom sound packs.
- Import and export coagulator lists as CSV files.
Information Stored on Your Device
STAR stores the following information locally on your device:
- Saved coagulator entries, including server URI, optional display name, and connection mode.
- Your selected sound pack.
- Your voice preview template.
- Custom sound packs and custom sound files you create or import.
- Rendered output audio files you choose to generate.
- Temporary audio and archive files used for playback, rendering, import, export, preview, and sharing.
Where Data Is Stored
- Saved coagulator entries are stored locally using iOS app preferences storage.
- Custom sound packs are stored inside the app container in Application Support.
- Rendered output files are stored in the app's Documents folder.
- Temporary playback, sharing, and export files may be stored in the app's temporary directory.
Information Sent Over the Network
STAR sends data over the network only to servers you choose to connect to.
When You Use STAR as a Client
- STAR connects to the coagulator server URI you configure.
- STAR sends requested speech text to that coagulator over a WebSocket connection.
- STAR receives audio and voice lists back from that coagulator.
When You Use STAR as a Provider
- STAR connects to the coagulator server URI you configure.
- STAR sends the list of available on-device voice names to that coagulator.
- STAR may receive synthesis requests containing text and selected voice.
- STAR synthesizes speech locally on your device and sends the generated audio back to the connected coagulator.
- STAR periodically requests the coagulator's voice list from the same server's
/voices endpoint to show connected voice counts.
Sound Packs
- Imported sound packs are copied into the app container.
- Exported sound packs include only custom sound files that are actually set in that sound pack.
- If a sound is not customized in a sound pack, STAR falls back to the app's built-in default sound.
Sharing and Export
If you choose to use sharing or export features, STAR may present standard iOS sharing interfaces so that you can send files to destinations you select, such as Files, Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or other apps available through the system share sheet.
What STAR Does Not Do
- STAR does not create user accounts.
- STAR does not collect analytics for the developer.
- STAR does not include advertising SDKs.
- STAR does not sell personal information.
- STAR does not upload your data to the developer's servers.
Third-Party Services
Coagulator servers you connect to are chosen by you and may be operated by third parties. Any information sent to those servers is governed by the privacy practices of those server operators, not by the developer of STAR.
Your Choices
- You can choose which coagulator servers to save and connect to.
- You can delete saved coagulator entries from within the app.
- You can delete custom sound packs from within the app.
- You can clear the app's output folder from within the app.
- You can choose whether or not to share exported files.
Children's Privacy
STAR is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. The app only processes the text, audio, files, and server information that a user chooses to provide.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if STAR's privacy practices change. The latest published version should be treated as the current policy.
